High school started in 2019 for my 2 kids. Tomorrow is the start of their final year.
So much happened in these 3 short years.
These 3 pictures are reminders of lessons we have learned.
1. 👍👍- Pick your attitude daily.
Even if tired, scared, or balancing on the Potato Chip, you are the boss of your attitude. Not everyday can be great, in fact somedays just suck, but as someone said, the difference between Try and Triumph, is “Umph” so give it all the Umphs you got daily.
2. Somedays you walk tall and proud, others you sink and barely glide on the ground. Just keep making slow steady progress, that is all.
3. Time truly flies, so while running out the door at full speed, please remember to savor, love and enjoy the ride.💕

Cashew Allergy is among the top nut allergies.
The allergy is always to the protein part of the nut, and certain nuts and fruits and pollen can cross react.
Cashews/Pistachios/pink peppercorn/Mangos, Sumac can cross react, meaning if you are allergic to one you may react to the other members of the family.
As an Allergist I like to always keep some antihistamines (Xyzal) and epinephrine (AuviQ) in my clutch, and recently it came in handy when one of my kids ended up having an unusual reaction to a food we ate.
I realized first hand how scary it feels to send kids in the world with food allergies. For over 2 hours I felt I could not breath watching over my son who was having hives after eating at a new restaurant.
So testing, education, and always staying a step ahead goes a long way.
If you think your child is having anaphylaxis, grab your Epipen or Auviq, “shoot, ask questions later” and go straight to the closest ER for observation for 3-4 hrs.
Oral Antihistamines take over 30-45 minutes to kick in, and should never be first line medication when you suspect anaphylaxis.
Also, please forget the pink pill Benadryl, its never our first choice, because we got more pure, non-sedating options, like zyrtec, xyzal, allegra.

Half the battle is showing up.
2 hour hike today to Lake Ramona.
So humbling seeing the other hikers carrying 20-30 lbs up the hill on their back.
Exhilarating to be able to move, freedom to breath, feeling our pulse double/triple and yet our physiology is made to deliver

Pizza in our house is made with 95% veggies.
Mushrooms 🍄
Bell peppers 🫑
🍅 tomatoes
Basil 🌿
Make the dough or buy from @traderjoes
Oven 400 degrees, first roll out dough, and bake for 10 min
Then add all veggies, sauté mushrooms,
( we don’t add sauce, the veggies give enough moisture)
Add a bit of fresh cheese- (I had non-vegan baby mozzarella , or can use non-dairy cheese) I know i cheated today!!!
Bake 15-20 minutes!
If you are used to the meat and sausage just slowly wean yourself off. The store bought has too much oil, salt, and never enough veggies.
The more fiber rich foods you eat, the better digestion you experience, can avoid the dreaded Constipation, and yes….achieve that Nirvana experience after using the john, where you exit the bathroom feeling you can achieve anything the day brings. End result, optimal overall and Colon health. And you thought this post was just about pizza 🍕
So Who does not want that?

Buddha Bowl easy dinner.
Quinoa, Falafel, 🌽, red cabbage, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, broccoli 🥦 sprouts, Asparagus, red onion 🧅 🥬 , avocado 🥑 dressing. All left over from weekend cooking, just assemble, filling, full of plants.

My amazing patient today complained she is cooking for one, at 79 she was finding it hard to keep a balanced diet.
After we talked about her dry eyes, and nasal issues which brought her in, the rest of the visit was spent on downloading daily dozen app, created by Dr michael Greger @nutrition_facts_org where she got so excited about how simple balancing things could be.
