Biography

Dr. Maryam Zarei completed her training in Allergy and Immunology in 2001 at Center for Medical Education, Kaiser Permanente, in Los Angeles. She is a board certified pediatric and adult allergist, a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and a member of the medical staff at Children’s Hospital of San Diego, Palomar/Pomerado Medical Center, and Tri-City Medical Center. She is the past president (2006-2008) of the San Diego Allergy Society, and has been a member of the San Diego County Medical Society since 2001. Dr. Zarei has also been involved in clinical research, and was the recipient of the First Place Clemens Von Pirquet national award for best research by a fellow, from the American College of Allergy.

Dr. Zarei obtained her undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Iowa in 1992, and went on to obtain her medical degree in 1996 from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed her Residency training in general pediatrics at the University of Irvine and was board certified in 1999.

She relocated to San Diego in 2001 and became an associate physician at Allergy and Asthma Medical Group and Research Center in San Diego, where she was involved in a number of research projects, in addition to giving many lectures to area physicians and allied health care workers.

In 2005 after having twins, she worked as an associate with Allergy & Immunology Medical Group, with offices in Vista, Escondido and Poway. In 2007 she opened her own Practice in the Poway Area.

She is passionate in providing outstanding, personalized care in areas of asthma, environmental and drug allergies, vaccine allergies, immunotherapy. Other areas include contact skin disorders, anaphylaxis, urticaria, eczema, angioedema, venom hypersensitivity, food allergies, mold sensitivity and chronic sinus disease.

Dr. Zarei and her staff are dedicated to teaching patients about their conditions, offering the most up- to-date forms of disease management.

Dr. Zarei, her husband and two children make their home in San Diego.
